Snow day

Well, we are trapped indoors with a snow day today. I have been doing a little research on the history of CFS. You see our batch of symptoms are not new. In the Victorian times they called it neurasthenia and before that shattered nerves. I’m trying to find references to such conditions in literature. I’m sure I’ve read of characters who were down with malaise or shattered nerves. I did read of one such character in a book called “The Pastor’s Wife” by Elizabeth von Armin. This woman had “found the sofa as other people find salvation”. This author though writes this charachter as a woman who has escaped her responsibilities by clinging to the sofa. I’d like to find other accounts. If you know of any, please let me know. I imagine back then the illness was as little understood as it is today.

I hope you are all well. I have started taking coQ10enzymes and do think they are helping me to keep my energy levels up on the long school days. Have you experience with them?

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you all. I have decided to face this year with an attitude of hope. The Holidays went well. I even managed to go Ice skating! I kept to my diet fairly well – though over did it on the mixed roasted nuts and now need to work on that little squish that accumulated. One can over do it on a vegan diet! I was given a memory foam mattress topper and must say it feels pretty good. I’ve been sleeping in the past few days trying to be nice to my body. I am inventing new smoothies and eating lots of good salads. So far my favorite smoothie is frozen raspberries (going to try strawberries today), pineapple juice, one fresh lime squeezed, half a banana, a little stevia or honey and two table spoons flax seed. Sort of like a virgin daiquiri. I have been doing Boogie to the wii and hope to start walking while the snow levels are down. School does not start again for me till later in the month, so going to focus on painting, resting up and exercise each day. Going to focus on being a good partner and mother. Going to make sure I have some quiet time to talk to God each day. What are you folks doing to try and approach this new year with positive energy?
